Ebook About “So, you want to know more about Bob Dylan? Read Clinton Heylin’s new book. You’ll get all you need.” — Graham Nash, of Crosby, Stills, Nash & YoungThe definitive biography of one contemporary culture’s most iconic and mysterious figures In 2016 Bob Dylan sold his personal archive to the George Kaiser Foundation in Tulsa, Oklahoma, reportedly for $22 million. As the boxes started to arrive, the Foundation asked Clinton Heylin – author of the acclaimed Bob Dylan: Behind the Shades and ‘perhaps the world’s authority on all things Dylan’ (Rolling Stone) – to assess the material they had been given. What he found in Tulsa – as well as what he gleaned from other papers he had recently been given access to by Sony and the Dylan office – so changed his understanding of the artist, especially of his creative process, that he became convinced that a whole new biography was needed. It turns out that much of what previous biographers - Dylan himself included - have said is wrong. With fresh and revealing information on every page A Restless, Hungry Feeling tells the story of Dylan’s meteoric rise to fame: his arrival in early 1961 in New York, where he is embraced by the folk scene; his elevation to spokesman of a generation whose protest songs provide the soundtrack for the burgeoning Civil Rights movement; his alleged betrayal when he ‘goes electric’ at Newport in 1965; his subsequent controversial world tour with a rock ’n’ roll band; and the recording of his three undisputed electric masterpieces: Bringing it All Back Home, Highway 61 Revisited and Blonde on Blonde. At the peak of his fame in July 1966 he reportedly crashes his motorbike in Woodstock, upstate New York, and disappears from public view. When he re-emerges, he looks different, his voice sounds different, his songs are different. Clinton Heylin’s meticulously researched, all-encompassing and consistently revelatory account of these fascinating early years is the closest we will ever get to a definitive life of an artist who has been the lodestar of popular culture for six decades.Book The Double Life of Bob Dylan: A Restless, Hungry Feeling, 1941-1966 Review :
I appreciate the work and the research that’s gone into this volume, it’s a useful addition to the Dylan literature, but I kept being jarred by such flubs as “Springstein,” “Kenneth Roxreth,” and other howlers which really mar the final product. Mr. Heylin, as a professional writer / editor I hereby offer my copy editing services for Volume II. Click my name and let’s talk. Clinton Heylin is a terrible writer. Period. Let’s establish that fact before I continue. And, looking at other reviews here, I can see that others agree. A quarter of the way through the book I already found three factual errors. Plus his train of thought jumps around way too much. When I saw that he was the writer of Behind The Shades it all made sense because that book was terrible, too! But it goes deeper than that - Heylin has written many books about Dylan. Too many, in fact. As well as too many books about other artists, in general. So the term “Get a life” immediately comes to mind. Being a Dylanologist is a polite term for an obsessive, compulsive, uber nerd living vicariously through his super heroes. Think back to A. J. Weberman and his exploits. As a musician myself, Heylin is the type of obsessive fan that you dread. If my life was ever addressed in such boring scrutiny, I’d ram the book down the author’s throat. I feel sorry for Bob. because someone is always trying to write and re-write his story. Heylin digs so deep into a barrage of publishing and boring facts, that getting through this book becomes a chore. Discrepencies abound and in the words of someone who was there, the legendary Al Kooper, “Journalism is a flawed historical system.” Read Online The Double Life of Bob Dylan: A Restless, Hungry Feeling, 1941-1966 Download The Double Life of Bob Dylan: A Restless, Hungry Feeling, 1941-1966 The Double Life of Bob Dylan: A Restless, Hungry Feeling, 1941-1966 PDF The Double Life of Bob Dylan: A Restless, Hungry Feeling, 1941-1966 Mobi Free Reading The Double Life of Bob Dylan: A Restless, Hungry Feeling, 1941-1966 Download Free Pdf The Double Life of Bob Dylan: A Restless, Hungry Feeling, 1941-1966 PDF Online The Double Life of Bob Dylan: A Restless, Hungry Feeling, 1941-1966 Mobi Online The Double Life of Bob Dylan: A Restless, Hungry Feeling, 1941-1966 Reading Online The Double Life of Bob Dylan: A Restless, Hungry Feeling, 1941-1966 Read Online Clinton Heylin Download Clinton Heylin Clinton Heylin PDF Clinton Heylin Mobi Free Reading Clinton Heylin Download Free Pdf Clinton Heylin PDF Online Clinton Heylin Mobi Online Clinton Heylin Reading Online Clinton HeylinDownload Mobi Wicked: A Sci Fi Alien Romance (Society of Savages Book 1) By Hope Hart
